Mr. Bembry selected to the Community Fellows Program at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), with a BFA in music performance and composition at Cornish Institute of Allied Arts. These studies led him to complete fieldwork with at-risk youth in performing arts at the Langston Hughes Cultural Arts Theater in Seattle as Resident Musical Director and Composer of many successful Musical Productions.

Reco is responsible for the development of many innovative programs including Seattle’s Late Night Recreation Program duplicated in 43 cities around the country, the development of the Teen Life Center in Seattle in addition to serving as Founding Executive Director of City Year Seattle King County.

Mr. Bembry Has served on many regional committees as a member and adviser including Seattle’s Music and Advisory Task force and is the recipient of many awards  (See awards section).

As a consultant in the private sector for over 17 years with accounts ranging from The Experience Music Project, Seattle Arts Commission, Seattle Children’s Theater, City of Seattle, San Diego Workforce Partnership and the University of Baltimore to develop education and outreach initiatives and fundraising strategies for youth programs, many activities and training focused on community, staff and program development.

Program Development Milestones Include:

Terminal 187 – Composer, Producer, Musical supervision and script adviser for National Film

Yo Hot Shots – Youth Entrepreneurship program – Barista training – Trained, employed over 50 youth per year since 1993. Expanded from one to three training sites in King County, 1997

AIDS Awareness Project - collaboration with Northwest AIDS Foundation-to raise awareness of HIV/AIDS Virus among low-income communities.

“Make it Big” Teen Talent Search – Co-sponsors Bon Marche, KUBE Radio, Seattle Center, City of Seattle- Provided performance and audition opportunities for over 700 youth, Washington, Montana, Oregon and Idaho.

Teen Parenting Program - In conjunction with Group Health Cooperative Community Outreach- developed a high impact program for Teen Fathers and Mothers.

Late Night Student Exchange Program – With Vancouver B.C, San Francisco- provide opportunities for youth in at-risk environments to experience difference and similar challenges to development. “I-5 Highway Hoops Basketball Tournament Seattle, San Francisco, Oakland and Las Vegas.

Teen Talk Show, 20 Productions, KCTS 9 - Executive Producer -Show designed to provide youth vision voice and parental/community awareness of youth issues.

Music Video “Statement” - Co-Producer, Musical Director and composer, Music Video regarding youth voice issues, powerful message, learning tool for at-risk youth.

Project Compute -Points of Light Award winning, Youth and young Adult – Computer Literacy Program developed to serve disadvantaged youth in the Rainier Valley, Southeast Seattle.

Youth Ambassadors program – Blue Door Productions – Vladivostoc Russia – Vladirockstock, organized a group of teens to serve as the ambassadors to the first Vladirockstock festival in Russia.

TREC program – Teen Recreation and Environmental Conservation program to expose teens to environmental issues affecting their communities through service projects and outings

STAC - Seattle Teen Anti-Violence Council, 25 member youth team working on violence prevention efforts in schools, community centers and neighborhoods.

TAC – Teen Advisory Council – Award winning 25 member youth team working towards youth governance, involvement and participation in neighborhood planning and special events.
